Calvin McLellan

My Story
Assaulted 7th August 2016
Calvin was assaulted on the 7th August at approximately 4.00a.m. as he came out of Roxannes nightclub on Ocean Road in South Shields. He was outside the Woodhalf pub at Mile End Road near to the Abrakebabra pizza shop near to the station taxi rank when he was subjected to an unprovoked assault.
Calvin has sustained a serious traumatic brain injury and was initially in the High Dependency Unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. However unfortunately because of a lack of beds on the head injury ward he has subsequently been transferred to Sunderland Royal Hospital on the 4th October where he is now receiving ongoing treatment.
Calvin has had a bi-frontal craniotomy where part of his skull has been removed because of the increased pressure on his brain. The current information that we have is that his prognosis is currently guarded and he seems to be still in a state of post traumatic amnesia still following the assault. He hasn’t woken up since being transferred to Sunderland Royal Hospital and is not receiving any active rehabilitation according to his Mum. She also has serious concerns about the level of care and treatment he is receiving since being transferred to Sunderland.
