Steven Corbett

My Story
Steven was a very kind, helpful & hard working young man. He was 27 years old with his whole life ahead of him. He had just found out that he was going to become a Dad for the the 1st time and then tragedy struck. Saturday 11th September 2010 Steven went out with a group of friends to celebrate a fellow friends Stag night in Sunderland. There was a bit of trouble in the back ground between a couple of people that turned up and some of the group but nothing to do with Steven.
He continued to enjoy his night and chat to his friends. In the early hours of the Sunday morning Steven and a couple of friends decided to leave the Town, get some food and head back to their house for a game on the computer. Whilst at the house the couple who were causing trouble in the Town turned up at the property to have words with the couple that lived there. The couple were cousins and there was a bit of commotion between them and Steven friends. Then Steven made the mistake of saying lets all calm down and be quiet as there is neighbors next door, being the calm and considerate person that he was.
This resulted in 1 of the lads turning on Steven and hitting him, it then carried on into the bathroom and that's where the tragedy happened. Steven was punched in the side of the head and that fatal blow killed him. He was taken to Newcastle General Hospital and remained on life support for 24 hours and was then pronounced dead on Monday 13th September 2010.
The family have never been the same since, we are all heartbroken even 13 years on. My Mam & Dad lost their only son and we lost our only brother. Their is a void in the family that cant ever be replaced. Steven was robbed of his chance to be a father to his son who is now 13.
The attacker got away with pleading guilty to manslaughter and served just a 1/3 of his sentence before being released.
